WORTHING LADY WITH EPILEPSY ORGANISES CHARITY SWIM FOR THE BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION.

Theresa Howard outside the Aquarena

Worthing born Teresa Howard is in training for a sponsored charity swim in memory of her father David who passed away at the age of 61 due to undiagnosed Ischemic Heart Disease. Teresa would like to raise money and awareness for the British Heart Foundation so that others can be diagnosed and treated earlier for this condition. Her father died at a young age and with more awareness of the condition could have been diagnosed sooner.

Theresa said “I am doing this to raise awareness surrounding Heart Disease so that others don’t have to go through what my father did. I love to swim and want to use this opportunity to help others”.

Teresa has Epilepsy and suffers from many seizures which have a large impact on her day-to-day living. Teresa has found it impossible to go swimming because she requires assistance in the pool in case she was to have a seizure. ERA healthcare provides a Support Worker to go swimming with Teresa once a week. This has enabled Teresa to continue her passion for swimming and to raise money for a good cause.

The sponsored swim will take place at the Worthing Aquarena on September 06th 2010 at 10:30am. You can sponsor Teresa at our Worthing office of ERA Healthcare.
